The X-ray examination table has a support tilting about a horizontal axis on a base frame, and a table frame sliding in the lengthwise direction on the support. A single motor drive is provided for synchronous tipping and sliding of the frame. For sliding the table a single chain (11) is reeved around a sprocket (12) on the common tipping and sliding motion drive shaft (9). The chain runs on both sides of the sprocket parallel to the sliding direction of the table frame (5), and coupled to the latter. Preferably the chain is guided on auxiliary rotary rolls (13).
