The television chair has two parallel U-rails (5) attached beneath the seat frame (1) and designed to take a metal frame (7) which is fitted at its front connecting member with an upholstered foot rest (9). To convert the chair from the sitting to the reclining position the foot rest (9) located beneath the seat frame is drawn forwards with the frame (7). Slight pressure on the arm rests (10) causes the entire seat unit to rotate about a point (2) so that the feet are raised. Leaning forward slightly brings the seat into the horizontal position once more.
