PURPOSE:To heighten recording sensitivity and resolving power and enable recording with low energy, by performing light irradiation corresponding to a to-be-recorded signal, upon a recording material in which a recording layer containing a prescribed semireduced sensitive substance is provided on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A developed redox dye such as Methylene Blue or Rhodamine B and an undeveloped coloring leuco-substance such as Leuco-Methylene Blue or Leuco-Rhodamine are coated by evaporation on a carrier 1 while the dye and the leuco-substance are caused to react with each other. As a result, a recording layer 2 containing a semireduced sensitive substance is produced to provide a recording material 8. Laser light 3' corresponding to a to-be-recorded signal is emitted from a semiconductor laser diode 3 and condensed by a lens 4 onto the recording material 8 through a carbanomirror 5 and a scanning section 6 to change the sensitive substance contained in the light-irradiated part 9 of the recording layer 2, from a semireduced state to an oxidized state, to color the part 9. The signal is thereby recorded. |
