<p>The cylinder is divided into two parts by a central partition (4). The partition supports the common piston rod (6) which carries two pistons (7,8). Exhaust gases at the cylinder outer end operate against the inlet combustion air at the rod side of the pistons. Air is admitted centrally through the passage (11) leading to the valves. Air is exhausted through the outlet passage (16) and exhaust gases are expanded in the cylinder space (19). The valves are actuated through a linkage (23).</p> |
