The rucksack (1) has two shoulder straps (9) which extend right up the back of the bag and slide in two loops (13) at the top. They are fixed at their lower extremities to the base of the bag and form the support surface of the bag on the back of the carrier. It has at least two semi-rigid plates (7) which are held in pockets (8) in the back of the bag. Supple straps (15) join the top of the bag to the shoulder straps at a part (17) situated above or in front of the user's shoulders.
