<p>SECRECY SYSTEM The present invention relates to a cipher unit for use in a system of secret telegraph communication which has an incoming channel over which miscellaneous matter intelligence signals are periodically received and an outgoing channel which is susceptible of operating at a higher speed than the incoming channel. The cipher unit interconnects the channels and is comprised of a signal storage device, and a unit controlled by the storage device for periodically generating special supervisory signals for compensating for the speed difference between the channels. A fan circuit is connected to the storage device. A ciphering maze is connected to the fan circuit. A unit is provided for inserting masking signals during pauses between the periodically received miscellaneous matter intelligence signals. A unit is provided for inserting the supervisory signals upon transitions from the received miscellaneous intelligence signals to the masking signals and vice versa. Finally, a unit is provided which is operable automatically upon encipherment of all of the signals for transmitting the enciphered signals over the outgoing channel.</p> |
