The final turn of a hairspring (4) of a clockwork movement is fixed by gluing or pinning to a peg (1), the peg being fixed to a movable peg-holder (2). The lower part of the peg (1''') has the general shape of a rectangle extending radially and comprising, near the inner side, the groove for fixing the hairspring. The length of the lower side (5), starting from the groove, is greater than the maximum gap between two turns of the hairspring. The gap between the said lower side (5) and the arms (6) of the balance is less than the height of the turns. The peg according to the invention thus precludes any possiblity of latching of the hairspring. <IMAGE>
