PURPOSE:To improve ribbon running feature, shelf life and pressure sensitive transfer feature, by providing, together with an ink layer, a transfer feature regulating layer as a top coat on a ribbon base, and adding a lubricant to the regulating layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer ink ribbon 10 has an ink layer 12 formed on one surface of a film-like ribbon base 11, and a transfer feature regulating layer 13 formed in a given thickness on the layer 12. A sticking prevention layer 14 consisting of a heat resistant resin (e.g., silicone resin) is formed on the other surface of the ribbon base 11. The transfer feature regulating layer 13 consists of a mixture of one or more than one resin(s) having large film forming feature and thermal adhesion feature (e.g., ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer), one or more than one resin(s) having a large cohesion power and tackiness (e.g., petroleum resin, rosin) and one or more than one lubricant(s) (e.g., stearil alcohol, stearic acid monoglyceride). |
