The ski brake has at least one brake lever having a swivelling bearing on the ski and subject to the action of an operating pedal. The brake lever is positioned vertically in the braking position and approx parallel to the ski upper surface when in the ready or downhill position. The ski brake (1) is fitted with two push crank drives (2,3) connected to each other at their coupled ends (10,11) and which have a length adjustable bearing through pins or rollers (13) in a guide track (14) positioned parallel to the upper surface (6) of the ski. The drive link joint of one push crank drive (2) forms the operating pedal (4) while the other link joint forms the brake lever (16) and when in the downhill position at least one of the drive link joints is subject to a pre-tensioned spring.
