Walking heel for plaster casts - has offset pivot area contacting ground ensuring normal walking action

The prop or heel fits beneath the foot to prevent it from contacting the ground. It has a support layer (3) supporting the foot and a raised outer sole (4) which has one part set convex relative to the support layer (3). The centre point of the radius of curvature of the convex part is offset towards the heel relative to the centre line of the support layer so that the angle at the front and rear parts of the sole allows the patient to perform a physiologically correct motion when walking. On removing the plaster cast the patient can quickly return to a normal walking action without having to retrain the muscles.
