A heat insulated container suitable for use as a heat accumulator comprises an outer mantle 10, 30 fully buried in the ground as well as a tank 14, 34 standing freely inside the mantle for a heat transport medium. The interspace 20, 41 between the tank and the mantle is closed in an air-tight manner and evacuated. The mantle 10 may be manufactured in sections and be lowered into the ground by use of sunk well technique, but may even be placed in an excavated pit, whereby adequate ground insulation 33 is provided around the mantle 30. The volume between the lid of the tank and the roof of the mantle may be filled with an insulating material 19 or be formed as a separate closed room 38 which is kept evacuated. Supply and tap pipes, respectively, 22, 23; 44, 47 inside the tank are adequately divided into manifolds ending at two different levels, whereby means 26, 27, 50 are adapted for sensing temperatures present, and introducing or tapping fluid, respectively, at corresponding levels in the tank. <IMAGE> |
