PURPOSE:An antimibrobial and algicidal agent, capable of controlling microorganisms multiplying and propagating in the service water system and undustrial products without causing the environmental pollution, and comprising a specific isothiazolone and 2-hydroxymethyl-2-nitro-1,3-propanediol. CONSTITUTION:An antimicrobial and algicidal agent comprising (A) an isothiazolone of the formula (Y is H, alkyl, alkenyl group, etc.; R and R' are H, halogens or alkyl groups, or may link to form a benzene ring; M is a cation atom or group selected from an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal; Z is an anion atom or group forming a compound with the cation M which forms a complex compound; a is 1 or 2; n is an integer wherein Z satisfies the valence of M) and (B) 2-hydroxymethyl- 2-nitro-1,3-propanediol (HMNP) as active constitutents, preferably in the form of a solution. the amount of HMNP is preferably 0.01-5pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. the isothiazolone. |
