The unit comprises a wheel fitted with a flat rim (1) and supporting six planting cylinders (4) equally spaced around its circumference. Each cylinder contains a plating piston (2), spring loaded (3) and fitted with a slider block (5). Each slider operates in conjunction with a link, this latter having a roller at its innermost end which is in contact with a snail cam (6). The seeds drop individually into the cylinders, being retained by a wire rod (7) encircling the rim. At soil level, each planting piston drops to eject the seed through an opening.
