The transmission system has a freewheel facility in which the engine can be switched off under certain conditions, and restarted by a separate clutch which connects a flywheel to the engine. The flywheel clutch and the main clutch are membrane types operates in sequence by a central hydraulic system. The main clutch can be operated by a separate control so that on system failure the vehicle can still be driven. |
