<p>The nickel content of aq. solns. contg. divalent cobalt ions is reduced by treatment with a chelating ion-exchange resin having bis (2-picolyl)aminofunctional gps. The soln. has pH 2-6.3 (pref. 4.5-5.5) and Co content at least 45g per l, and treatment is at 20-60 (pref. 50-60)deg.C. Pref. the soln. consists mainly of cobalt sulphate and the relative vols. of resin and soln. are adjusted to give a Co:Ni wt. ratio at least 200:1 in the purified soln. The purified Co solns. are also claimed. The selectivity of these resins is greatly improved by using solns. of high Co content.</p> |
