In known constructions of window winders an endless cable is looped around a grooved drum so that rotation of the drum moves the cable which entrained the window. The cable was held freely between the drum and a slotted tube along which the window entrainer moved often causing misalignment of the cable. To avoid this problem the window comprises a base plate (1) having fastened to one side thereof a cover (10) covering the cable drum (2). The cover (10) has guide arms (10a) and (10b) to guide the cable (5) from the drum (2) in a straight line tangentially to the drum. The ends of the guide arms each have recesses to receive end fittings (11) and (12) of Bowden cable cases (6) and (7). The end faces of the guide arms (10a) and (10b) have spherical outer faces to facilitate alignment of the cable case ends to the laterally changing running direction of cable (5) onto drum (2).
