Composite cycle tyres of moulded rubber on tubular PVC core - for wear resistant and flexible puncture proof tyres

Puncture-proof tyres for cycles, carts etc. are made by enclosing a closed thick-walled tube of rigid material (I) in an over-moulded sleeve of a rubber material (II), so that the tube encloses air at atmospheric pressure. Pref. (I) is of plasticised PVC having a modulus of elasticity of at least 80 mPa. Pref. (II) is a rubber of Shore hardness between 40A and 70D. The rubber provides wear-resistance and traction. The core tube provides a combination of support and flexibility.
