The generator consists of a large rectangular gate (1) pivoted at its upper edge (2) to a pair of fixed pillars (6). The lower edge has bogies (3) running within a pair of fixed rails (4) such that as a wave passes the gate, it lifts, forcing the bogies along the rails and the pivoted edge upwards, the reverse occurring as the wave trough appears. Linear electrical generators (7) are held within the vertical columns or on the rails, each consisting of fixed and moving coil groups the latter forming a closed magnetic circuit. The system lends itself to three phase generation and has collector electrodes moving synchronously with the coils. Tidal effects are compensated for by electronic control of vertical screws.
