PURPOSE:To enhance the adhesion of a vacuum deposited photoconductive material film to an Al substrate and prevent the film from peeling off by superposing part of each film end having no relation with latent image formation on the substrate with an aluminum oxide layer in-between. CONSTITUTION:Al substrate 1 of an electrophotographic receptor for an electrostatic copier or the output printer of a computer is covered with vacuum deposited photoconductive material film 3. When film 3 has each end 2 having no relation with latent image formation about 1-80mum thick alumite film 5 is formed on each end 2 of substrate 1 by a sulfuric acid method or an oxalic acid method. Film 5 is then covered with film 3 such as Se film. Since the adhesion of film 3 to film 5 having the composition of Al2O3 is satisfactory, film 3 is prevented from peeling off at each end 2.
