PURPOSE:To improve the stability of a positive electrode principally made of silver peroxide by allowing lead and aluminim to be contained in the alkaline electrolyte in a battery. CONSTITUTION:In the alkaline electrolyte of a battery having a positive electrode principally made of silver peroxide, lead and aluminium are contained. As lead, metal lead powder or a lead oxide soluble in alkali such as lead monoxide is used, which as aluminium, metal aluminium or an aluminium salt soluble in alkali such as aluminium hydroxide is used. Lead and aluminium are added in a combined weight ratio of 0.1-20wt or in a proportion of 15g/l or less as the combined concentration of both components. Potassium hydroxide is most suitable as the alkaline electrolyte. Therefore, even if a positive electrode made of silver peroxide having large activity is employed, the generation of gas can be reduced in quantity, and decomposition of silver peroxide is suppressed, and stability can thus be improved. |
