Linear operating control for car air conditioning unit - with manual knob attached to slider moving along guide rod

The air conditioning unit has an operating knob which projects from the dashboard fixed to a slider (21). A linear metal guide rod (78) is engaged by wings (37,37') of plastics material rigidly fixed to the slider. The wings (27,27') cooperate with the whole of the guide rod (78) and they are resiliently coupled together, via radial projections spaced around the wings (37,37') have curved front faces with the same radius of curvature as the radius of the rod (78). The slider (21) is moved along a straight track defined by the guide rod (78) via the manual operating knob. Pref. the whole of the slider (21) is formed as an injection plastics moulding, with the wings (37,37') integral with it.
