Telescopic shroud for molten metal stream - esp. for providing gas curtain round stream of metal flowing into mould in continuous casting plant

The parent patent described a telescopic bellows located between the base of a vessel and a mould to shield the metal stream from the ambient air. The top of the bellows fits round a ring on the base of the vessel, and the bottom end of the bellows fits round a second ring located on the top surface of the mould. The novelty in the addn. is that the bellows is assembled from several short tube sections made of a heat resisting material and nesting in each other, esp. via ring collars on each end of each tube. The top tube is pref. fixed to the base of the vessel. The bellows is very stable and has high resistance to metal spray.
