The apparatus is intended for setting broken bones and has a setting frame with longitudinal guide rails (1) joined by cross-members. A slide (3) is movable along the frame, and has openings and locking devices for coupling to a compression or traction device. Lockable bushes fit into slide openings, acting as guides, when drilling holes in the bones, and for items such as screws (7) and clips (17), and also allowing several setting frames to be secured together. The compression device adjusts the position of the slide on the guide rails. The frame is preferably in two parts, each having its end with a hinge, through which passes a locking bolt.
