The present invention relates to a system for opening and closing doors and gates, the use of which is extremely simplified. It is composed of one or two compact motorised housings 1 fastened to the end of the leaves 2 and driving these as a result of the adhesion of the wheel on the ground 4. It is characterised in that locking is ensured by the wheel itself which is self-locked in stops of suitable shape and adhesion. Moreover, the motorised housing 1 incorporates all the devices necessary for its automatic control and the energy necessary for its operation.
