<p>PURPOSE:To improve the conformity of a pause mode reproducing picture by fetching a current video signal to a memory and producing a still picture immediately when a pause mode is selected during reproduction, and returning a tape to the tape position at the time of the pause mode selection. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with the memory 12 to which a video signal at a tape position is fetched when the pause mode is selected, a distance measuring means which measures the traveling distance of the tape 1, and a reverse means which drives the tape 1 reversely. Then a signal which is being reproduced is fetched to the memory 12 immediately when a reproducing mode is switched to the pause mode and the still picture is obtained with the signal recorded in the memory 12. Further, the distance from the tape position at the time of the pause mode selection to the tape stopping position is measured by the distance measuring means and the tape 1 by only the measured results is returned by the reverse means by the measurement result value. Consequently, the conformity of the still picture reproduction is improved and editing operation is properly performed.</p> |
