The object of the invention is to simplify a known portable radio apparatus in which an accumulator for the power supply is accommodated in a special carrying device. The object is achieved by providing one wall (12) of the casing (11) of the portable radio apparatus with a depression (13) which is filled by a power supply block (14). The power supply block has mechanical blocking means (18, 22) which match corresponding blocking means (19, 23) in the depression (13). On its underside, the power supply block has battery contacts (35, 36), which make contact with mating contacts (38, 39) in the floor (37) of the depression. A preferred application of the invention is in a radio telephone. The drawing shows an exploded view of a radio apparatus casing and two power supply blocks of different design.
