PURPOSE:To separate the titled complex economically in an reusable purity, industrially, from a specific rhodium complex catalyst solution containing the by- product of hydroformylation reaction of an olefin catalyzed with the above catalyst, by the phaseseparation abd extraction of the solution with paraffin and a polar solvent. CONSTITUTION:The unreacted materials, the reaction products, and the solvent are distilled off from the reaction mixture obtained by the hydroformylation reaction of an olefin (e.g. propylene) in the presence of a rhodium complex catalyst having a tert-phosphine (e.g. triphenylphosphine) as ligand. The residual liquid containing the rhodium complex, the tert-phosphine and high-boilding by-products, is made to contact with (cyclo) paraffin and a polar organic solvent (e.g. acetonitrile) to separate the solution into two phases. The polar organic solvent phase contains major amount of the rhodium complex. The volume ratios of the catalyst solution to the (cyclo)paraffin and to the polar organic solvent are, pref. 1-10 and 0.5-5, respectively.
|
