The invention involves a fish fodder substance in the form of pellets, the greater part consisting of protein-rich basic substances, which pellets are sparingly soluble in cold water. The purpose of the invention is to produce such a fish fodder substance with a better solidity. This purpose is achieved through the invention by the fodder substance's sparing solubility in cold water resulting from an added binding-agent, that is sparingly soluble in cold water and is added in this form, preferably in 5 to 10% of the total weight, which binding-agent is made of yeast, that has been prepared to achieve the said solubility preferably through kneading and heating in a basic environment and/or through addition of tanning substances. The invention involves also a method of producing the fish fodder substance which according to the invention is done first through treatment of the yeast, so that it is sparingly soluble in water, whereby the yeast is first mixed with a very small amount of water and its pH adjusted to approximately 9, thereafter the dough is kneaded for approximately an hour while the temperature is increased from 60 to 90 degrees C, at which the pH is finally adjusted down to approximately 5 and the protein-rich basic substances are added in such an amount that the yeast will compose 5 to 10% of the mixtures total weight, which mixture is then dried at approximately 80 degrees C and finally divided up into pellets. |
