PURPOSE:To obtain a shaped graphite product with excellent chemical and physical durability at elevated temperature in a non-oxidative atmosphere, with high strength and thermal conductivity, being free from wetting with melted metal. CONSTITUTION:The zircon-coated shaped graphite product is coated with a film mainly consisting of zirconium silicate, and is produced by coating with a suspension containing (a) at least one silane selected from tetraalkoxy silane bearing alkoxy groups of 1-5C, its hydrolysate and partial condensate of the hydrolysate, (b) at least one zirconium compound selected from zirconium tetraalkoxides having 1-5C alkoxy groups, its hydrolysate and a partial condensate thereof, (c) organic solvents and (d) a zirconium silicate powder. |
