Portable equipment such as cinematic or TV cameras (1) are supported on a temporary stand. This stand comprises feet which are reduced in volume to facilitate transportation. Installation does not require any tools. The stand comprises a vertical column (2) whose upper end carries the camera support (3) with a universal joint (4). The joint allows the camera to be orientated as required. The column comprises two sections of telescopic tubing which are locked together at the required height by a pointed screw (7). Three removable feet (5) comprise cylindrical shafts which engage a hole (6) in the lower column (2a) to space them around the column. Plastic or wire tensioners (9) anchored to the feet and to a collar (10) on the upper column held reduce vibration effects at the camera.
