The disc brake has a caliper sliding in a stationary component and with shoes acting against opposite sides of the disc, while a spring on the component acts against the shoes. The distance measured between datum marks (20,21) on caliper (12) and shoe spring (12) indicates the amount of wear of the shoe linings (7,10). There can be two springs for the shoes, spaced apart in the peripheral direction and acting between component (1), shoes and caliper, the datum marks being formed on one of the springs and on the side of the caliper.
|
