Elastomer and plastomer processing - after applying ultrahigh frequency waves to preformed strands

Shaped articles are produced from polar rubber /or plastic mixes by extrusion, pressing or injection moulding after the mix has been plastified by first preforming it to a shape which assists the application of ultrahigh frequency (UHF). Subsequent exposure to an UHF field results inchemical and/or temperature rise and the mix is given its ultimate shape immediately afterwards. These microwaves result in a very sbort time in high temperatures which are necessary for the vulcanisation of rubber and crosslinking of plastics. The result is a uniform heating throughout with very exact control and repeatability.
