<p>This invention relates to the television art. Specifically, apparatus for separating luminance and chroma information in a color video signal using comb filtering techniques is provided. The apparatus includes a delay line which receives the composite video signal and delays it for one horizontal line. The delayed video signal is combined with an undelayed video signal to provide the separated chroma and luminance signals. The bandwidth of the individual comb teeth in the comb filter can be altered in accordance with the signal to noise ratio of the received video signal. Picture quality is enhanced by increasing frequency content while decreasing noise in the recovered chroma signals. Separation is achieved with a minimum compromise in vertical resolution.</p> |
