The head rest is adjustable for height and inclination. It has two ball attachments (10,12) to the seat and tubular parts (14,16) in which are sliding rods (22,24) of a frame (26) for a supporting cushion. There are friction fittings between the rods and the tubular parts. The friction device is a bush in the tube with the rod inside it. The bush can be compressed around the tube and has slits at the lower end, acted on by one or more springs. The bush is of flexible material, such as nylon.
