The washing device has a washing rod (2) releasably fastened on a handle (1). Water is supplied to the sponge-like covering (2d) of the rod via a water hose connected to the handle (1) and an inner, perforated distribution channel (2b). Before use, the rod is covered by a protective sleeve (3) which, for use of the rod, is inverted in the direction of the handle (1), so that it covers and protects the hand gripping the handle. <IMAGE>
