Besides a head wall (4) which extends from a ceiling box (12) into the vicinity of the floor of the operating cubicle (2), which has a rectangular ground plan, the cubicle has side walls and a bottom wall (6). Each side wall comprises a rigid vertical wall part (24) adjoining the head wall (4) and having the same height as the latter, and a horizontal wall part (26) which adjoins the ceiling box (12) and extends between the wall part (24) and the bottom part (6). The side walls are each supplemented by a wall element (40) fixed so as to be pivotable about a vertical axis on the rigid wall element (24) and by a wall element (44) also fixed on the latter so as to be pivotable about a vertical axis. The bottom wall (6) comprises two wall elements which can be vertically inserted in the rigid horizontal wall part, next to a rigid horizontal wall part and adjoining the ceiling box (12). The movable wall elements permit enclosed operation and, for operations at less risk of an infection, a change to open operation in which the confinement caused by these wall elements is eliminated in a simple manner. <IMAGE>
