<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a drug ingredient useful as a remedy for stiff and painful shoulder, and for hernia of an intervertebral disk, by boiling or streaming a sea snake with water to give its oil drops separated together with water, followed by isolation processing. CONSTITUTION:A sea snake directly or its internal organs are boiled in water or steamed with water vapor so that its oil drops are separated together with water. After cooling, prepared set fats and oils are collected, dissolved in an organic solvent dissolving fats and oils, and the resulting soluble ingredient is evaporated to dryness. The residue is purified through separation by column chromatography using chloroform as a developing solvent and a silicic acid-based carrier as a support material, thus giving a drug ingredient from the sea snake. The ingredient don't contain phospholipid at all, is simple lipid, has the melting point of 40-45 deg.C, insoluble in water, easily soluble in chloroform, and neutral. It is useful as a remedy for stiff and painful shoulder, hernia of an intervertebral disk, whiplash, sciatic neuralgia, various rheumatisms, etc.</p> |
