LIQUID-GAS CONTACTOR AND LIQUID-GAS CONTACT PROCESS

A liquid-gas contactor is disclosed having a first liquid-gas contacting region of which the lower part is provided with a gas inlet and the upper part is provided with a liquid feed inlet, and a second liquidgas contacting region in which second region at least a portion of liquid fed by way of the first contacting region and the greater part of the gas supplied are brought into contact with each other in concurrent flow fashion, the first and second contacting regions being interconnected by an inverted U-shape, the bottom parts of both contacting regions opening into a liquid tank and at least the bottom part of the first liquid-gas contacting region being immersed in the liquid in the tank. A process using the contactor is also disclosed.
