PURPOSE:The title composition, suitable for a coating material of an electric wire, having improved mechanical properties without deteriorating the moldability, and comprising aluminum hydroxide powder, basic magnesium carbonate and ethylene- vinyl acetate copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A composition prepared by incorporating (A) 100pts.wt. of a resin consisting mainly of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, preferably with a vinyl acetate content of 15-30wt%, and preferably a polyolefin resin having a density of 0.910-0.945g/cm<3> and a melt index of 0.01-2.0, with (B) 50-300pts.wt. of (a) aluminum hydroxide powder and (b) basic magnesium carbonate powder having a particle size of 0.01-30mu frame-retardant. The synergistic effect is remarkable in the case of 0.5-40wt% (b) in the filler to provide a high oxygen index particularly, 1-20wt% of (b) increases the tensile strength and elongation at break of the composition. |
