Actinga as a solar energy collector, the composite roof or facing tile may be of the flemish, undulating or flat form. It comprises a base tile (4) on which a collector (13) in glass or metal is mounted. The design accommodates collector flow (11) and return (12) feeds to the interior whilst maintaining the weather sealing function. A partic. detail may use a flat base tile (4) to mount the collector (13), allowing the feeds to pass through tile holes (9,10) lined with an appropriate sealant. In a sec. details the collector is set flush in a troughed base tile with the seal located between the trough walls and the collector edges (13A), the feeds traversing individual clearance holes or a single large opening. Further details locate the tiles above an air cavity and allow for the coupling of collectors in series.
