<p>In a plant for grinding wood, esp. for papermaking, by means of a rotating grindstone, whilst water is fed in, the collecting trough for the suspension of fibre, partly limits the grinding chamber which may be under the pressure of a gas, and is self-supporting on the grinder housing. For pref. the trough is fixed to and hangs from the grinder housing; being bolted to the flange beneath the housing by screws through its upper rim. The joint is airtight. Used to collect the slurry behind a dam, the height of which can be adjusted before it flows to the next processing stage. The immersion of the grindstone can be varied from 2 to 10 cm so that it is cooled, lubricated and cleaned. The hanging of the trough eliminates the very heavy loading on the foundations caused by the pressure in the housing; the trough is adequately strong to stand up to all the requirements.</p> |
