<p>A spreading and guiding device for running open-width sheets of fabric, felt or film has a spreading roller whose surface is formed by a series of extensible elements attached between a pair of end-flanges which are inclined w.r.t. the axis of rotation of the roller. The flanges are attached to rocking connecting links, between the opposite ends of which is mounted a telescopic control rod. On the control rod is mounted a freely-rotatable stabiliser roller with a dia. approximately half that of the spreader roller, and having a high-friction surface. The device automatically corrects deviations of the sheet from a rectilinear path at running speeds of up to 200m per min., without the need for any additional mechanisms.</p> |
