A sound absorbing lining for the passenger compartment of motor vehicles is produced by applying, for example, a polyurethane copolymer foam with a filler of barite at a rate of 60wt% on the rear of a tufted carpet. In a separate process, a polyester mat with a weight of 20-70 g/sq.m is turned into a foil of 100-300 microns by sintering thermoplastic powder on it. This is bonded by an adhesive to the foam. After infrared heating, the panel is pressed to the desired shape. Such linings have an excellent noise absorption and retain a stable shape under extreme temp. fluctuations.
|
