PURPOSE:To eliminate disorder of later program by automatically filling the number of sheets lost as a result of clearing the jammed sheets at the time of jamming. CONSTITUTION:When sheets from a copying machine or a printing machine or the like are inserted into rollers 10 of a collator 2, the sheets are introduced through a conveyor 17 and a deflector 6 into a bin 8. A sheet reception detector 23 is provided at the inlet side of the rollers 10. If the sheet is not detected by a sheet exhaust detector 48 at the deflector even after predetermined time after the sheet is passed through the detector 23, a jam treating operation will start, a reception guide plate 12 is operated, and the sheet conveyor path is switched from the deflector 6 side to a temporary tray side 14. The number of sheets contained in the bin 8 and passed through the sheet exhaust detector in the deflector is subtracted from the number of sheets passed through the detector 23 to the time of occurring the jam to calculate the subtract to feed the number of sheets corresponding to the difference thereto. |
