<p>PURPOSE:To enable the increase in starting torque, by altering the radius of a windmill depending on the change in its rotational frequency and by varying the angle of some of plural blades to their tangential directions as to their rotation depending on the change in the windmill radius. CONSTITUTION:A gyro-type windmill comprises a vertical rotary shaft 7, a plurality of blades 1-4 and connecting rods 5, 6 which couple the rotary shaft with the blades. The blades 1, 2 are fixed blades, the radius (distance between the rotary shaft and the blade) and set angle (angle between the blade and its tangential direction as to its rotation) of which are invariable. The other blades 3, 4 are variable blades, which are revolved on a plane defined by the connecting rod 6 and the rotary shaft 7, centering the coupled sections of the connecting rod 6 and the rotary shaft 7 and the coupled sections of the connecting rod 6 and the blades so that the radius and set angle of the blades vary. In starting, the set angle of the variable blades 3, 4 is increased and the ratio between the radii rv, rc of the blades 1-4 is set at 4-5.</p> |
