<p>PURPOSE:To improve the starting property of a Diesel engine, by providing a blower and a valve opening unit in the intake and exhaust passages of the engine and by actuating the blower and opening an intake and an exhaust valves to introduce hot gas from a burner into a combustion chamber when the engine is started in a cold state. CONSTITUTION:A blower 13 and an intake heating burner 12 are installed in the intake passage 2 of an engine 4. The blower comprises a change-over valve 16 and a blower unit 15 installed in a bypass 14. To start the engine in a cold state, the change-over valve 16 is set in a position shown by a full line in the figure and air supplied by the blower unit 15 is heated by the burner 12 and conducted into a combustion chamber 5. An exhaust valve 7 is equipped with a valve opening unit 17 comprising a hydraulic cylinder 21, a hydraulic switch 31 and a hydraulic pump 26. When the engine is started in a cold state, the switch 31 is actuated to introduce oil from the pump 26 into the chlinder 21 to keep the exhaust valve 7 open. This results in improving the flow of the heated air in an intake and exhaust line and accelerating warming-up.</p> |
