An automatic threading control for a camera has a spring loaded guide plate (9) hinged over the take-up reel (6) in which is provided a slot (6a) and a pair of teeth (6e) to grip into the sprocket holes at the edge of the film. The guide plate has a sprung roller (14) to press the centre of the film down into the groove. The film is guided along the exposure position in lateral slots, with the camera back closed, until it stops by the roller. The operator can feel the increased resistance and stops the feed. The film is distorted in the centre by the roller, to line up the sprocket holes with the claws. No additional manual dexterity is required.
