A wiper for wiping the interior of drill pipe, for example, of drilling mud. The wiper has an elongate float (18) from the top of which extends a mandrel (16) carrying flexible pipe-wiping assemblies (48, 50). The mandrel flexes with respect to the float to allow the wiper to negotiate bends in the pipe. At the bottom of the float there is a passageway (102) which allows communication between the hollow float interior and the exterior for the purpose of pressure equalisation.
