PURPOSE:To provide a simplified and low cost mechanism which is capable of preventing automatically the clogging of ink in the head and an outflow of the ink by a method wherein a cap may be removably attached to the nozzle in response to a movement of the holder for the ink jet head. CONSTITUTION:When the head holder 2 for holding the ink jet head 1 is moved in a direction indicated by the arrow A, a part of the head holder 2-1 pushes against a lever 8 and a projection 8-1 also moves a surface of the nozzle cap 3 in the direction indicated by the arrow A. Thereby, the cap 3 is disengaged from the projection 8-1 and pushed over the nozzle 1-1 by a spring 7. In case of printing, at first a solenoid 6 is energized, the cap 3 is pulled in a direction indicated by the arrow D via armature 5 and a connecting rod 4, then the head 1 is driven in a direction indicated by the arrow B. At the same time, when the lever 8 is rotated in a counterclockwise direction and engaged with a stopper 10, the solenoid 6 is deenergized, resulting in that an initial condition of the device may be provided. |
