The fish breeding apparatus consists of an oblong cage 20, preferably shaped as an ellipsoid of revolution, with end pivots 23, which are mounted in bearing elements 36, which are adjustable in the height direction in relation to the support assemblies 30 of the cage. The support assemblies can be secured either to an arrangement of floats 11 or to bottom posts. The cage's shape and arrangement allow large capacity in relatively shallow water, and the adjustability of the height direction allows a certain variation of the environmental conditions of the fish. By turning the cage about its axis of rotation, heretofore submerged parts of the cage are brought up above the water surface, thereby air- drying the overgrowth, which facilitates its removal. <IMAGE>
